The Manistee County Fair event will have all of the West Michigan Pullers classes - field farm tractors, street diesel trucks, pro street diesel, modified gas trucks, 2 hot 2 farm tractors, limited light super stock tractors, super stock tractors, limited pro 3.0 diesel trucks and open tractors. Owners look forward to the competitions because, as Glover says, “if you’re going to have one of these machines, you might as well use it.” Members of the group earn points for each event and at the end of the season awards are presented to the top pullers.īuilding and operating a super modified truck or tractor can be an expensive hobby. Glover said West Michigan Pullers works with local fair officials to line up equipment to prepare the track after each run. “The sled comes with an operator and we put together a crew to do the measuring and other tasks,” Glover said.Ī big part of pulling is choosing a good path down the track. West Michigan Pullers works with two companies in Michigan that provide sleds. Tractors and trucks pull a weighted sled down a 300 foot track. West Michigan Pullers has been in existence for about 20 years and has been in charge of pulling at the Manistee County Fair for about five years.
